So, first things first, this is 1 month long, and i'm here to help you, so if you have further questions, need extra help with something outside of what we've covered already, just email me: warrioroflife32@yahoo.com. The goal with this project is for you to set a goal that you are passionate about and really believe you can reach, and doing just that. We will go over lots of techniques to make sure you are doing every thing you need to to make these changes permanent. The first step is going to be getting some momentum going. Get started now, don't wait until new years, start now by making some small changes to your diet and doing some kind of exercise, TODAY! As soon as you have the idea, that small bit of inspiration, go do it. Put on your walkin' shoes and get out there right now! You don't have to set any records or traverse any icy canyons, just move a little. If you can't get out or it's a blizzard, here is something you can do at home, today, squat...
So, with this, if you have knee or back problems, set up a chair, and use this same form, sit down into the chair but keep your torso tight, don't relax when your butt hits that chair, then from the chair, lean forward a bit and drive up to a standing position. This position should work for EVERYONE unless unable to stand. If you can sit on a toilet, you can squat. If you can squat, you need to squat. That's it for today. I want everyone who plans to follow this, please get a journal that's just for your health, nothin' else in it but diet, nutrition, exercise and your motivations for being healthy. The other thing i want to have everyone do, is every day when you get up, every night before you go to sleep, list 10 things or more that you are thankful for and that are reasons why you want to improve your health. Friends, kids, activities and passions, pets, places, all those things that make your life wonderful.
One month of diet, exercise, life changing new habits to make those new years resolutions stick. I will put up information on diet and nutrition, as well as some easy diets to follow and some workouts that you can modify to suite your own level. This is not about doing the toughest workouts or the craziest diets, it's about setting a goal and reaching it, learning to be the person you'd like to be instead of always talking about it, we're going to practicing being it.
I also recommend before you start a new diet that you go through the Reset program from Usana. It's 5 days of meal replacement bars and protein shakes, all low-glycemic to help "reset" your insulin receptors. It helps to get your body's metabolism moving in the right direction and cuts down those cravings for sugary, starchy, cheat-day foods that we all love so much. www.goldenguardian.usana.com is my personal Usana website, you can check out the Reset, as well as some other great health products that i'm sure i'll refer to in posts during the program. They say 5lbs in 5 days with the Reset, but coaching at a busy gym, i saw several people get 7, 8, even 9 pounds in just 5 days. And following the veggies and just juicing that we are going to talk about later, my wife lost 14 lbs in just under 2 weeks. This stuff works, but it's always going to be determined by your level of motivation and consistent action.
